It came about very simply really. I was at home working (as usual) and like a flash of lightening the title came to me; just like this 'The forgotten Gang'.
It came at a time when I was feed up with the news exploiting the deaths that kept occuring in my community. As a researcher, its well none that the media use and abuse sad, 'fearfilled' stories to boost sales.
Now being affected by gun and knife crime, quite badly a couple of years before, I firstly had enough of the perspection that if your young and even more so if your young and black; you must be in a gang; and secondly I felt obliged as a black artist to do what I could to state the truth and clear young black peoples name.....before the end of my days.
So.... the journey of the Forgotten Gang Project began; with a title that sounded fantastic.....I will be honest. It started very slowly, like ant steps. But I am thankful that it at least, started.
It's proof that when you give yourself a goal and voice this goal out loud (whether to yourself or someone you trust) the inspiration, mechanism or link will come to get going whatever it is you want to 'get going'.
Try it out sometime. Say a goal or amibtion out loud with a dateline (I don't like saying deadline; the phrase doesn't make sense to me). Then continue with your daily routine (almost forgetting about the goal or ambition), you'll no doubt find that within that month (depending on your beliefs about yourself...you know whether you feel you are worthy of achieving the goal / ambition for example) an idea, spark of inspiration, person, link or something else will come to get you one step closer to achieveing you goal. From then on everything will kinda fit into place...naturally.
Try it out. Let me know if 'letting go and allowing' for the things you need to acomplish your goal come natually to you actually works.
Unless of course your addicted to being in control of everything...........
